In The Fashionista's Closet: Rose Colored Glasses

Outfit details from Saturday:

I first gave you a glimpse of this dress back in October but the Park Lane Blogger Event was my first time wearing it. I'm sure you can "see" why I heart this dress!
Dress: vintage
Earrings: Can't remember
Clutch: DSW
Wedges: Steve Madden

I'm sad that I didn't take any photos of me wearing  it from the back, it's the best part!

And guess who has a big brother?:

Found this suitcase at the same thrift store where I found the train case.
It's a Samsonite also and I plan to use it for decor.
I'll be sure to take photos once he finds his home in my space.

AND
for your viewing pleasure
When I first saw this commercial, I thought it was fake, I kept rewinding it because it looked like a skit! Please don't tell me that I am the only one who finds this hilarious....

Park Yourself at The Shops at Park Lane!

This past Saturday I attended an event with the DFW Bloggers Network hosted by The Shops at Park Lane, the shopping area located across the street from Northpark Mall. I've been there before but it's been awhile and the area wasn't as developed as it is now. And color me impressed because there was awesome shopping, good eats and lots of fun!
Drinking champagne at Bailey's Prime Plus cuz yeah, that's just what I do....

No pics from our lunch at Gordon Biersch, I was too busy chowing down on my spinach salad with grilled chicken. Delish!
Me and the ladies at Freshberry.(By the way, isn't Ivonne's hair (in yellow) like so super shiny??? I'm obsessed.)

My coconut yogurt with strawberries, mango and pineapple. YUM!

Cris from My Fashion Juice (Is she not adorable?)

 Beautiful flowers at Whole Foods

Browsing the goods at Ulta

Goodie bags from Whole Foods, this is definitely the best one in the area, it has everything! You can chill your wine in 3 minutes (need), they have concierge shopping services (need) and the best part:
a cart-o-lator! It's an escalator for your shopping cart that travels down to the parking garage. Of course I wanted to ride in the cart but alas, no riders allowed.

Cute Katie from Fashion Dinosaur, you know I loved the crinoline, don't ya?

One guess as to WHO won a Marc Jacobs watch courtesy of Nordstrom Rack?!?

Here is a photo of me and my fellow cohorts after a long day of chatting, tasting and shopping:

In The Fashionista's Closet: Orange Sherbert

Highs and lowlights of the week:

High: I have had the pleasure of meeting some very fabulous people lately and I'm enjoying every minute of it. My Friday night consisted of spirited conversation, jello shots, bootleg movies (I got a couple of "free samples" from a bootlegger) and fish at 3 am, what's not to like?? And if anyone wants to watch Big Momma's House 3, I gots that.

Tee shirt: Walmart
Necklaces: Forever 21
Skirt: Thrifted
Belt: Vintage
Train case: Vintage
Shoes: Michael Kors

Low: I ran out of gas.
Shut up. I know.
Who does that?!
But thankfully Bleezus (Black Jesus) was able to come through for me (once again.) Thanks C!

High: I was able to hang out with a couple of friends this weekend who have been with me through thick and thin and I continue to cherish them ...

So all in all I'd say it was a good week!

Its official, I need my friend Petra to take my pics everyday, I really enjoy the different angles that she is able to capture that I'm unable to get from my tripod. (She's one of the thick and thin friends.)

Posts from the DFW Blogger meetup coming soon!

In The Fashionista's Closet: Tales of a 5th Grade Weedhead

My sister called me and told me that a new kid enrolled in my nephew's school today.

Top: Vintage
Skirt: Vintage
Belt: Can't remember
Shoes: Michael Kors

New kid asked my nephew where he got his shoes and if he wanted to sell them.

Nephew says no and new kid asked if he wanted to buy some weed.

Umm yeah, weed.

My nephew is in the 5th grade and even though I work with elementary school kids I couldn't believe it. Because my family lives in a small town I didn't think he would be confronted with that type of thing until he was older. It actually hurt my heart that he was put in that situation.

My nephew told his teacher about the exchange with the new kid and the principal called my brother in law to tell him what a great job he and my sister are doing as parents to raise such a responsible kid. I guess all's well that end's well....

but why do I want to find that kid and beat him up?

In The Fashionista's Closet: Weird Science

Is it weird that a woman breastfed her baby next to me today in church? No blanket or nothing, I looked over and was like "Whoa!"

Is it weird that I met a neighbor yesterday and we ended up liking one another instantly and hung out the whole day? We went to the mall, to the beauty supply store and to dinner all after knowing one another about ten minutes. We met because she stopped me and asked me abut the dress that I was wearing and then we bonded over hair and shoes.

I felt very boobalicious in this dress so I ended up buttoning up a couple of buttons on the jacket....

Is it weird that ever since I joined twitter I want to hashtag everything, regardless of whether I'm tweeting or not? #thiscouldbearealsickness

Dress; thrifted
Jacket: Gap
Belt: thrifted by Reiko
Bag: Vintage
Shoes: BCBG

Have a Great Week!

In The Fashionista's Closet: Austin Vibes

This is what I wore to the Texas Style Council event in Austin Saturday night. Fun people, free drinks = Good times! I really enjoyed the vibe in Austin, even though my mom lives an hour away, I don't go there often. It was very freeing for me, individuality is definitely encouraged and I loved every minute of it.

After meeting up with my partner in crime (if sneaking into public places to change clothes is a crime) we figured out that we didn't have anyplace to change clothes. Where we were staying were both too far away to go back to just to change. So we decided to sashay into a swanky hotel somewhere with bags in tow, change clothes and la-di-da our way on out.

 dress: vintage
belt: vintage (it's all metal!)
clutch: vintage
wedges: Steve Madden

What we actually did was pull over because we couldn't find a parking space at a hotel, saw that we were at a hospital and stealthily snuck in to use their restroom. And of course I made multiple wardrobe changes, so we came up with a code knock, code word and backstory as to why were in the hospital to begin with if we were stopped. Reason? Sick grandma. Name of said grandma? Why Grandma of course.

I won some Claire Fong earrings at the Lulu's spin the wheel game!

I somehow lost my card case with my identification on the fricking street and a lovely Austinite contacted me via Facebook and got it back to me thanks to some teamwork by Reiko and Tina of T Minus T Plus. WHO doesn't love Austin???

I wish I had taken advantage of the photo booth more (or tried to be more photogenic, I was clowning around a lot) had I known that the photographer was so AMAZING!
But I did manage to photobomb Erin from Work With What You've Got, I haven't seen her since the summer even though we both live in Dallas I forgot how hilarious she is!

If you're in Dallas, check her out at her new job Buffalo Exchange, she loves it there!

See Reiko's post for more pics of the fab bloggers we met in real life.....

Look at Me Now, Look at Me Now...I'm InStyle!

I got a comment from a reader of the blog last night letting me know that I'm in the March issue (it's actually April because I already have March) of InStyle magazine. My friend (and resident photographer) and I race to the nearest Walmart and she captured this:

Color me excited!

 Checking it out

That's me in the "How Have We Amped Up Your Style" section on page 72, and Tina freaking Faye is on the cover whom I love. Here's a pic until I can scan it...

Thank you Anonymous for letting me know!

I also received my Moo business cards in the mail and I LOVE them. The quality and weight of the cards is phenomenal and although I have the mini cards I don't feel as though they'll get lost in the shuffle. I also got the mini card holder that you can attach to your key chain so that the cards are always handy.

I used 13 different photos but you can use as many as 100 for 100 mini cards. I'm looking forward to handing them out to everyone, the cafeteria ladies at school, gas station attendants and the dude who asks for change under Interstate 30.

Now who wants a card????

Weekend Madcap Recap

Quick recap of the weekend in Austin with one of my favorite people....

(Free) Cokes were stolen....

Someone got tipsy....

Ids were lost, keys locked in the car, and someone was stopped by the po po's for speeding. (Actually, all of that happened to me but it all worked out in the end.)

There were multiple wardrobe changes in a hospital restroom complete with code knocks and nekkidness...

And we laughed. A lot. I mean a whole lot. An obnoxious lot.

It was a very good weekend indeed......

Lucy and Ethel have left the building!
